Flatiron-Dragados 105 Freeway Project
The FlatironDragados 105 Freeway project in Los Angeles incorporates advanced sustainability practices by recycling demolished concrete onsite and using it as Class 3 base material for new construction, significantly reducing environmental impact and supporting local resource efficiency.
Working with Recycled Base Materials, Inc., Existing concrete is crushed onsite and repurposed as Class 3 base material, minimizing waste and the need for new raw materials.
The recycling process involves pavement and soundwall demolition, followed by the use of the recycled concrete in the road’s sub-base layer, supporting California’s sustainability goals.
This recycling approach aligns with Flatiron’s broader commitment to environmental sustainability and efficient design, reducing both transportation costs for materials and construction timeline.
280,000 tons recycled
