Project Description

Recycled Base Materials, Inc. incorporates advanced sustainability practices along the Interstate 5 corridor in Norwalk and La Mirada by recycling demolished concrete and asphalt onsite for use as high-grade base material. Working with prime contractor Security Paving Company, Inc., Recycled Base Materials, Inc. crushed and repurposed an impressive 800,000 tons of existing highway pavement on location, minimizing landfill waste and eliminating the need for new raw materials. This closed-loop recycling approach involved high-capacity mobile crushing of extensive pavement debris from 2018 to 2025, placing the recycled aggregate directly into the road’s sub-base layer to support Caltrans' sustainability goals while reducing transportation costs and project timelines.
