Project Description
Recycled Base Materials, Inc. incorporates advanced sustainability practices along the State Route 55 corridor in Costa Mesa by recycling demolished concrete and asphalt onsite for use as high-grade base material. Working with prime contractor Security Paving Company, Inc., Recycled Base Materials, Inc. crushed and repurposed an impressive 500,000 tons of existing highway pavement on location, minimizing landfill waste and eliminating the need for new raw materials. This closed-loop recycling approach involved high-capacity mobile crushing of extensive pavement debris, placing the recycled aggregate directly into the road’s sub-base layer to support Caltrans' sustainability goals while reducing transportation costs and project timelines.
